Nine! Well it's growing fast then.

Sometimes gamechangers are just slight variations on a good idea. Print to online, ICQ to Twitter.

Job boards to social recruiting makes sense.

Am I right in counting that your gaming community has 9 members and you're one of them?

If I'd have to honestly say that Facebook is probably a better bet because these guys almost certainly know each other already and would be distributing job information directly - ie a new website to help them probably won't change anything that's not already there.

One thing that surprises me through the hype about 'social recruiting' is this notion that its something new or gamechanging.

People who know each other have talked to each other for centuries.

Great. Thanks for clarifying.

I guess the key with the social media is to make it easy, useful and relevant to both the job seeker and organisations looking to connect directly with candidates.

Can you give us any examples of integrated job board/social media sites that are succesful and that do this well?

Hi James

Topical question.

Let's break it down. Social means there is interaction within the site. There might be IM capacity, profiling, microblogging, messaging from member to member. You get my drift...

The niche part obviously refers to the fact that the site caters to a specific market area. For example, see my new site Gamer Jobs.

And the job board part is fairly self-explanatory.

All of this interaction should help both candidates and employers connect with one and other in an environment that both parties have an expertise in.

Hope this helps make things clearer:)

Hi Geoff, Good effort with both sites. Perhaps you could run through what it is specifically that seperates a social niche job board from a job board?

Im working on a new niche job board at the moment that will launch July 1 and I would be very interested to hear your thoughts as Im attempting to create a hybird job board and community with integrated social media....
